Wildfire Risk, Response, and Preparedness

Thank you to Nicholas Shanahan of the North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies and Jeremy Knighton, Assistant Fire Chief of Emergency Management for the Asheville Fire Department for joining me in the studio today to talk about Wildfire Risk, Response, and Preparedness.

You can listen back here: bit.ly/GAR archives

A few resources that they shared during the episode:

Resources that can be found at ashevillenc.gov :

  • Climate Resiliency assessment

  • vulnerability maps

  • top 3 hazards

  • ready, set, go!

And here’s a great list of resources in a Google Doc format with links and short descriptions. WNC Wildfire Info/Resources

Also mentioned on today’s episode (in Walker’s detached yet totally connected brain) was Roots So Deep You Can See the Devil Down There, a 4 part docu-series about the environmental impacts of animal husbandry, through traditional methods versus AMP practices.
